Information that you need when booking an appointment.

How do I get a referral?

Any GP or specialist can order a vascular ultrasound. We accept any type of referral, but we are happy to email you a copy of our request form that you can print and take to your doctor if requested.

How do I prepare for an ultrasound?

It is recommended that you wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing for your ultrasound. Ultrasound cannot be performed through clothes, so you may be asked to remove some items of clothing depending on the area being scanned. All ultrasounds in your abdomen require you to follow a diet to reduce gas the day before and fast for at least 4 hours prior (water is ok), however you will be advised whether this is required at the time of booking.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is free patient parking. The entrance to the car park is via Speed Street. Drive through the car park to the left and you will see a sign saying patient parking. There is a lift from the carpark (we are on the ground floor) in addition to a ramp at the main entrance of the building. We are located within Doctors@Liverpool.

Can I come via public transport?

Yes! Liverpool train station is 350 meters away, which is approximately a 5-minute walk. There are also bus stops nearby on Scott Street at Macquarie Street or on Bigge Street opposite Liverpool Station.

I need a medical certificate. How do I get one?

Please ask our lovely receptionists to prepare one for you.

When will my results be ready?

Usually, every examination is reported by the end of the same day. If you have a specialist appointment after your ultrasound that requires the result, please let the sonographer know so that your report can be prioritised.

What if I have an urgent result?

Please be assured that the sonographers are highly trained in triaging urgent results. If anything urgent is found during the ultrasound, they will give you advice on what the next steps should be. For example, they might ask you to wait so that they can write you a preliminary report to take to your GP for treatment.

Do you bulk bill?

Yes, all ultrasounds are fully bulk billed under Medicare.

Do you accept private overseas patients?

Yes. We charge $200 per ultrasound and $100 for ankle/brachial indices or PPG. We will provide you with an invoice listing the item numbers which you can take to your private health insurance company for a rebate. The rebate amount may vary depending on your insurance.
